A major South London park will be closed tomorrow after thousands broke the two-metre rule on Saturday and chose to ignore government lockdown rules and enjoy the sunny weather. Over 3,000 people headed to Brockwell Park, Herne Hill on Saturday. While hundreds of people sunbathed in Primerose Hill and a family in Newham hosted a party with 25 guests.
Lambeth Council tweeted: "This is unacceptable. Unfortunately, the actions of a minority now means that, following police advice, Brockwell Park will be closed tomorrow. #StayHome."
It added: “We are sorry we’ve had to take this decision.
“This wouldn’t need to happen if people followed the clear instructions from the Govt.
"We are doing this for the wider safety of the public.
“A minority of people have not followed the guidance – regrettably we have to act.”
On March 24, Boris Johnson announced the public can only leave home once per day if it's “absolutely necessary”. This includes travelling to work, shopping for essentials and daily exercise.
