Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care after his condition worsened.
The Prime Minister was admitted to hospital on Sunday due to persistent coronavirus symptoms.
Although he is understood to be conscious, and earlier reported to be in good spirits, his doctors advised admission into intensive care at approximately 7 pm in case he requires a ventilator to help with his breathing.
A statement from Number 10 Downing Street said: "Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.”
The statement also informs that the Prime Minister asked Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, to deputise for him where necessary.
"The Prime Minister is receiving excellent care, and thanks to all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication."
