North West London’s ‘Artan’ continues to add fire to his arsenal with melodic new song ‘Uncomfortable’. A song deeply personal, reflective and relevant to the current world; narrating the struggles of isolation, whilst attempting to maintain relationships. The visuals by Oliver Brian lay the foundation for Artan to step forth and become the protagonist in a 3 minute movie, a setting encapsulating the mood of the track expertly.
Shout out to American trap producer Tobi Aitch, his work on this one is compelling yet slow and melancholic. He creates a hazy environment that provides a juxtaposing sense of clarity to the story being delivered by Artan. Transpiring into a song that kicks aplifies the effectiveness with the drum pattern, it soon becomes evident that the climatic and suspenseful halts in the production are to allow Artan to unleash those killer punchlines. ‘Uncomfortable’ not only displays his multifaceted approach to sound curation, but it also brings a sense of realism and normality.
Evident in his 2020 project ‘Chasing Dragons’, Artan continues to connect with listeners through experience, pain and the courage to be honest - something that becomes clearer and clearer with each release.
