The UK Government is subsidising 50% (up to £10 per person) in selected pubs, restaurants and cafe’s who have registered for the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme! A lot of High street chains have registered to take part however this was not limited to the big players as independent food outlets had the opportunity to register as well, as long as they have a ‘dine-in’ area.

Starting from 3rd of August 2020 up until the 30th of August 2020 diners will only be required to pay 50% of their meal at participating food outlets on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in an attempt by the Government to help compensate for the loss of business due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As you might of seen on social media, Nando’s is definitely set to be the most popular amongst Brits. And the best part is there is absolutely no limit to the number of times you can use the discount, goodbye health plan and hello burgers and fries!

So How does it work?

The Government will cover half of the cost of your meal out on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of August. The reduction has a cap of £10 per person so if you were to order food worth £30 you will only need to pay £20. There is also no limit on how many times you can use the discount.

Businesses taking part were to register before the deadline and their refund is to be issued with 5 working days into their bank account. So if you are a business owner who has not registered you will not be refunded if you were to give 50% discount to customers. But please do.

There is also a 15% VAT cut which the government has issued for 6 months to further help the retail industry. Reduced costs should mean reduced prices and hopefully increased sales. How about we start reducing the cost of iphones yeah?

So far over 50k businesses have registered for ‘Eat Out to Help Out’. Which food chains are taking part? Heres a list for you!
