Matt Reeves, director of (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) debuted the first look at ‘The Batman’ film –starring Robert Pattinson – during the DC FanDome’s virtual event.
The trailer consists of 2:23 minutes of Robert Pattinson portraying a far darker and edgy cape crusader than his predecessors. Nirvana‘s ‘Something in the Way’, plays over the trailer where we catch glimpses of what seems like a superhero thriller with shades of violence and mystery.
A far grittier look than the playboy of Christian Bale or Ben Affleck’s portrayal, Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne is frightful and bleak, capturing The Bat not as a superhero but as a masked vigilante.
“I’m vengeance,” immediately after brutally beating a thug to his reply of “What the hell are you supposed to be?” The trailer also debuts Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the movie was shut down and delayed. Production on the film is set to resume in the UK next month. The film has an expected release date of October 1, 2021.
While we’re yet to know the full premise of Matt Reeves, The Batman. A lot of fan theories believe Pattinson’s Batman storyline will follow writer Scott Snyder’s graphic novel of ‘Zero Year - Secret City’.
