Boris Johnson declares it to be vital that students return to school once they reopen, in September. He goes on to say it's imperative for children's physical and mental wellbeing.
In the announcement, the Prime Minister acknowledges that parents are worried about schools reopening.
"All I can say is, the risks are very, very very small that they'll even get it [Coronavirus]" - Boris Johnson
Johnson adds that the chances children will suffer badly if they contract the virus, are even smaller. He asks for parents to understand that schools are safe enough to be opening in September. Also, groups of children at school will not be mixed, and handwashing stations will be widely utilised.
Johnson adds that they are putting an extra eight million into schools to ensure the transition will be as smooth as possible, alongside forty million for councils to ensure transportation is not a concern for any child travelling to school.
