Heathrow Airport: Passengers flee Terminal 2 as “potentially suspicious item” causes evacuation

Police rush to the scene as Heathrow Airport's terminal two is evacuated following a security alert.

Hundreds of passengers have fled the airport while an alert caused by a "potentially suspicious item" is being investigated.

A Heathrow spokesperson said: “Our teams are working with the police in response to a potentially suspicious item identified at Terminal 2."

As a precautionary measure, passengers were made to evacuate the area temporarily.

Videos on social media taken by passengers show people hundreds of passengers and flight attendants hurrying from the scene.

"We apologise to any passengers inconvenienced while the matter is investigated", said the spokesperson.
