Last week, we saw the trio’s first ‘Elephant in The Room’ episode trending online after the heated debate between Poet and their guest, Zeze Mills. Now, they’re back with another hard-hitting episode discussing Covid-19, the new vaccine for it that’s recently been approved, and how serious the virus actually is.

Like the first episode, the premise of the show saw Poet, Lippy and Chuckie talking, with their guest watching live from another room, who at any point could interrupt and voice their own opinion. Featuring an NHS doctor, Dr. Shko, the discussion ranged from scaremongering tactics, fake facts and debating on how deadly the virus is.

Notably, Poet voiced controversial opinions about the virus. When touching on how black people and other ethnic minorities are more effected by Covid-19, a factor that’s still being researched on, Poet dismissed this with, “my mom is black, my dad is black” reinforcing the scaremongering conspiracy he’d mentioned earlier in the episode. This resulted in the 35-year-old facing even more backlash than the first episode, with comments claiming Poet was “ignorant”, and that the idea for the episode was “a good concept but the wrong panel”.

Regardless of the controversy, many were able to acknowledge that the difficult questions we’ve all wondered were being asked. The episode also served as an educational lesson to both the trio and audience alike. Doctor Shko was able to explain that the virus is sporadic; some may have extreme symptoms while others are asymptomatic, and some may be hospitalised because of complications due to Covid-19, whilst others are able to recover at home.
