Buckingham Palace have confirmed that The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have received their Covid-19 vaccinations.

A royal source said the vaccinations were administered on Saturday by a household doctor at Windsor Castle. The Queen decided to let it be known she had the vaccination to prevent further speculation.

The Queen, 94 and Prince Phillip, 99 have joined around 1.5 million people in taking at least one dose of a Covid vaccine so far.

The source claimed that it had been made public “to prevent inaccuracies and further speculation”.

The Queen and Prince Phillip have been spending the lockdown at Windsor Castle after deciding to have a quiet Christmas at their Berkshire residence, and forgo the traditional royal family gathering at Sandringham.

People over the age of 80 are among the high priority groups which have been given the vaccine first.
