A man has appeared in court after popular rapper, Cadet, passed away while travelling to perform at Keele's University.
23-year-old Jordan Birch has appeared in court charged with causing the death of Cadet, real name Blaine Johnson, by dangerous driving.
Birch appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Thursday, October 31, to face a charge of causing the death of 28-year-old Cadet by driving dangerously on the A531 Main Road, Wrinehill, near Betley, in the early hours of February 9.
According to reports from Stoke on Trent Live, Birch, of Grove Crescent, is also charged with causing serious injury to Kashif Usman by dangerous driving.
The 23-year-old was bailed and will appear in Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on November 22.
Cadet's cousin, and fellow rapper, Krept, shared the news of Birch's charges in an Instagram story with the words "look at god" and "justice".
We hope that justice will be served. Please drive safely.
