R&B songstress Tiana Major9 is the latest artist to appear on JD's 'In the Duffle Bag' podcast, hosted by Chuckie Online.
The two delve instantly into her creative process in lockdown, as well as exploring her somewhat 'sheltered' upbringing in East London. Alongside growing up in a Jamaican family her musical influences are extremely varied and layered, from Gospel to Jazz. Love is a big influence for her - something her and Chuckie bond over.
They move on to her being signed to the prestigious Motown record label and go deep on their thoughts on the infamous 'R&B is dead in the UK' narrative, naming a few of their favourite artists also.
As the conversation draws to a close they also discuss her 3 Mobo nominations, and of course, her Grammy nomination. With just a day between the announcements she tells us about her shock to have been nominated and what she was up to at the time.
Check out the conversation below.
