If you haven't already, check out Instagram's new live room function. The feature - which was launched on Monday - allows up to 4 participants to engage with real-time broadcasts that Instagram users can then tune in to.

Instagram had a few words to say about the move in a recent blog post.

"Previously, you could go live with only one other person in a stream, but we're now letting you 'double up' on your live broadcast.

"We hope that doubling up on Live will open up more creative opportunities - start a talk show, host a jam session or co-create with other artists, host more engaging Q&As or tutorials with your following, or just hang out with more of your friends."

Live Rooms also provides content creators who are shut off from real-world venues by the pandemic an opportunity to make money.

Users can buy "badges" to show appreciation for hosts, who can also add shopping or fundraising features, according to Instagram.

In a 12-months that saw the value of the live stream sky-rocket for media producers, it's surely not long before other social media platforms follow suit. Let us know how you're looking forward to utilising this new tool!
