The self-proclaimed African Giant Burna Boy is back with a smooth single ‘Kilometre’. After teaming up with the likes of Headie One on ‘Siberia’ and Justin Bieber’s ‘Loved By You’ earlier this year, his latest offering is his first solo single of the year that emits good vibes.
‘Kilometre’ is a celebratory track detailing how far Burna Boy has come in his career as he raps “When was the last time somebody did it like this?/Too much ice on my bomboclat wrist/That’s why everybody hating on me like Chris.”.
This Chopstix-produced track features a catchy refrain and an energetic drum pattern, blending the sounds of Afrobeats and dancehall that allows Burna Boy to lay lyrics full of finesse that fans love him for. The accompanying visuals directed by Clarence Shot It are hectic and sharp, showing Burna Boy in his element as he flexes with his boys.
Speaking to Zane Lowe about the meaning behind ‘Kilometre’, Burna Boy commented "It's really me talking about how far I've come, I've come a long way. At the same time, just having fun with it”. Later on in the interview, he also hints at the release of a new album this year that fans would definitely be excited about.
