Marcus Rashford accepted the Pat Tillman Award for Service at The ESPYS 2021. Rashford raised millions of dollars for underprivileged kids through his reach and popularity during the Covid-19 lockdown. He wrote an open letter to the England Government last year in order to make them reconsider their stance on terminating the national voucher plan that was started to feed kids from low-income families.
Following the open letter, the government announced that it would extend the initiative with an additional £120million in funding, as per ESPN. The 23-year-old then raised £400million from donors to continue that scheme into 2021, positively affecting the lives of up to 1.7 million children.
