Still Loading - A British Drama About Chasing the American Dream
Author: Tevyn J | Thursday 10th September 2026

After announcing the the development of the short film online back in May of this year (2026), it seems the full release may soon be upon us! 'Still Loading' is the debut short film from London based writer and director Gerald Sagoe. After a few short months since the initial announcement, the very first trailer for the release has now been unveiled via Link Up TV.
The scripted drama uncovers a very relatable story - which follows Marley, a gifted freelance videographer and editor heavily involved in an ongoing campagn - building the career of an upcoming UK rapper, along with the trials and tribulations that come along with it, while his own ambitions, relationships and overall personal life take a back seat.

Set against the pressure cooker of London's creative and music industries, this seems to be a detailed story about ambition, burnout, sacrifice, and what it may actually cost an induvidual to build someone else's dream while theirs patiently waits its turn - with no sign of when they'll be able to punch their own ticket, or whether it will all be worth it in the end.
Inspired by the real experiences of young creatives navigating the UK's hustle economy, 'Still Loading'. aims to capture the mental and emotional cost behind the work, not just the glamour of the industry; giving a new audiance a chance to peek behind the curtain of the side of the game that isn't usually spoken about outside of certain circles, and never usually makes it to the big screen.
Written and directed by Gerald Sagoe. Produced by Four Letters London.

THE WORLD The story explores the reality of young British creatives caught between the hustle they have to survive and the dream they want to chase. It's about creative mental health pressure, burnout, sacrifice and deferred dreams. The hustle economy, freelance work, gig-to-gig survival and the inability to switch off.
The UK → USA Dream, building a career in Britain while looking across the Atlantic for bigger opportunities. Real music culture, genuine access to UK music talent, culture and the worlds surrounding it.
Relationships and Ambition, what happens when the pursuit of success starts affecting everything else.

"Anyone who's worked within a creative industry knows this feeling," Sagoe says. "You're building, you're grinding, and somewhere along the way you realise you've spent years pouring everything into someone else's vision. This is the film I needed to make about that, not as a complaint, but as something true."
THE LINEUP The trailer features WhyDee, with rollout support from Kojo Funds and Papz, voices Sagoe describes as part of the same wider community the film is speaking to and from.

WHAT'S NEXT Still Loading is a scripted drama short, developing into a full series. For Sagoe, this trailer is less an ending than a proof of concept. "This short is where it starts," he says. "Where it goes next is still being written. But for the first time, it's mine to write."
