“I have a different hunger for it now, and you can hear that in everything I’ve been making recently.” IMONI talks new song ‘Energy’, musical inspirations, life lessons, and more! The process behind creating a song often can be overlooked. The steps shape the track to reach its full potential. IMONI talks on how she created ‘Energy’. “My producer (LYP) had sent me this beat and I just kept listening to it over and over. I guess I was in the right mindset with no distractions and nothing limiting my creativity. I recorded it in my living room, sent it back for mastering, then it was done really quickly. “.

Lockdown has been a time of self-evaluation and growth for us all. It has helped to alter our mindsets, the lockdown has definitely shaped IMONI as an artist and musically, here is how “I guess it’s changed the style of music I make because all my songs have started to have this sense of determination that I didn’t really have before, becoming driven realising when everything is taken away music and creating is all I have”. Inspired musically by Abra and Erykah Badu, ‘Energy’ was just the start of a new chapter, IMONI lets fans know, her EP is nearly finished. “I recently re-visited a track I wrote 3 years ago and never released, which is a similar vibe to ‘Energy’ but a darker vibe. Fans can possibly expect a music video too.

IMONI’ journey to becoming an artist came from self-belief and persistence. Being an artist is something IMONI’ always aspired to do, this year pushed her to pursue it more. IMONI’ words behind the process “The world hasn’t been the best place to be so it’s the perfect time to be creative, make your own reality, envision the future, and think about what you really want from life.

What fans can expect to see over the course of three years: new music consistently, an album release, performances and travelling.
